American Hiking Society's National Trails Day!

REI is partnering with the National Park Service and SORBA in helping to build a lasting legacy of trails, rivers, and wild lands for generations to come. Each year we participate in The American Hiking Society's National Trails Day to help beautify the local parks and trails where we recreate. For 2009, we'll be helping out at the Powers Island branch of the Chattahoochee River National Recreation Area.

We will need lots of hands to cut brush, restore habitat, dig in the dirt, pull invasive plants and manuever wheelbarrows. Please wear long pants and closed toe shoes. Bring work gloves and a reusable water bottle. A wicking REI Volunteer T-shirt will be provided to the first 250 volunteers to register. Snacks and hydration will be provided. The normal parking fee will not be assessed for volunteers that day.

There will be ample work for people of all ages and abilities!
